Beautiful palace & interesting audio guide!
This was a very educational and enjoyable experience! The architecture and the art at Dolmabahçe Palace were a pleasure to see, and I learned a lot from the audio guide! It had many interesting stories, and it was nice to learn more about the Ottomans and Turkey's history while visiting, like how tons of gold were used to build it and that it was too expensive for the sultan. Definitely worth visiting!
Saved so much time with priority access
My favorite part of Dolmabahçe Palace was the harem because you could see how the royals lived. I also liked seeing the blend of Ottoman architecture with the classic European style of castles. Priority entry was a life-saver because it was hot outside, and we didn't have to wait in the regular line. I'd definitely recommend booking these tickets!

Skip the line and save time at the entrance to Dolmabahçe Palace! Your ticket includes an audio guide, so you will learn about the palace and the Ottoman sultans who lived there. Dolmabahçe Palace, or "Dolmabahçe Sarayı", is the biggest palace in Turkey and the first European-style palace in Istanbul. Dolmabahçe Palace was built in the 1840s and 50s because Sultan Abdülmecid I wanted to move the court from Topkapi Palace. Dolmabahçe Palace's name means "filled-in garden", as a wooden palace and gardens had been built previously in its place. The palace is made up of three sections: the Selamlık or the Mabeyn-i Hümâyûn, which were the men's quarters, the Muayede Salonu, or the ceremonial hall, and the Harem-i Hümâyûn, which was the harem where the sultan's family lived. The founder of the Turkish Republic, Kemal Atatürk, stayed in Dolmabahçe Palace during his visits to Istanbul and died there in 1938. SEE THE LAVISHLY DECORATED OTTOMAN PALACE
Dolmabace Palace has 285 rooms and 6 "hamams", or Turkish baths. One of those baths is decorated with pure alabaster, and some say that 14 tons of gold and 6 tons of silver were used to decorate the palace! Another luxury that was added to the palace is the Bohemian crystal chandelier in the ballroom/throne room, which weighs over 4 tons! Sultan Abdülmecid I did not keep an eye on his budget when it came to furnishing the palace, although his subjects were struggling. The palace was too big of an expense for the empire and was the beginning of the end for the dynasty.
ENTER THE HAREM, THE SELAMLIK & THE PAINTING MUSEUM
In the Selamlik, you can enter two exhibition halls and see the collection of items from the palace. In the Harem, you can see not only where the Sultan and his family lived but also a room dedicated to Kemal Atatürk.
